The Remix Album

The Remix Album

After winning the hearts of electronic and rock aficionados all over the country with Champion’s kick-ass debut album « Chill’em All », Saboteur Records is proud to present « The Remix Album », an alternative take on Champion’s first cult album. With collaborations of some of the electronic sphere’s most prominent producers and remixers, « The Remix Album » has Champion’s « Chill’em All » tracks all dressed up in eclectic custom-made digital garments, taking the listener from one ballroom to the next dance-floor, keeping the well-beloved 6 chords walls as backbone. Starting off quietly with the beautiful Patrick Watson remake of « Guy Doune », the album quickly upbeats its pace with Mocky’s nostalgic and late-afternoonish version of « Two Hoboes ». Making a 180 turn with the Ghislain Poirier grime version of the chart killer « No Heaven », the album ensues with the dark electro-clubbish Detroit Grand Pubahs’ kicker « Gutter Mind Mix » of « Two Hoboes ». A new edit of the sonic road-trip « Keep On » by Champion himself then takes the listener through a full spectacle of audio hitch-hicking, followed by a jazzy minimal techno version of « Tawoumga » by the multitasking Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts (of LUCI and Chic Miniature fame). An all-over the map cut-and-paste collage-track of « Chill’em All », « Champion’s Melange » shows once more you can’t underestimate Champion’s knowledge of beats and creativity. Completing this multicolored collection of instant classics are Fred Everything’s take on a dubby « Tawoumga » with « Petit Dub » and Akfuen’s chilled back retake on selected sounds from the « Chill’ em all » sessions, on the gorgeous « No 7/11’s ». Whilst waiting on the forthcoming original material from Champion’s inventive mind, this remix album should be the best outlet to fulfill the hungry ears of his fans, and maybe even conquer the few who haven’t yet had the chance to be charmed by his original mix of electronics and guitars.
