Milestones of a Legend -The Lyric Tenor, Vol. 8
Tenor Ernst Haefliger is one of the outstanding vocal personalities of the 20th century. "You do not hear Haefliger as a voice, but as a musician," wrote Jürgen Kesting in his compendium of great voices about the Swiss tenor, who came to international renown primarily as a soloist in Bach’s various “Passions” and with his recordings of the Schubert cycles "Winterreise" and "Die schone Müllerin”. His repertoire ranged from Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn on to Stravinsky, Kodaly and Janacek. Haefliger's high artistic and vocalistic level, which he was able to maintain until old age, extended to almost all genres.
