Live Session

Live Session

This recording is a presentation of the weekly, informal "jam sessions" held by Yaala Ballin and the accompanying musicians. The songs are classics from the Great American Songbook, rendered into highly individual performances that immediately reach out to the listener. Yaala Ballin performs regularly in New New York City and internationally, and is also a member of the Jazz Vocal Department faculty at City College of New York. Pianist Mike Kanin is acknowledged as one of the premier accompaniests of his generation, whose credits include long associations with the legendary Little Jimmy Scott and for the past 11 years, Jane Monheit. Bassist Ari Roland travels with great frequency as a "Jazz Ambassador" for the US Department of State, performing and conducting workshops throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Drummer Keith Balla is a dynamic young drummer whose remarkably mature style is much in demand and held in highest esteem by the swing and bop musicians in New York City. Recorded October 6th 2012 at "The Drawing Room", NYC Audio and Video Recording: Neal Miner Mixing and Mastering: Walter Fischbacher at Lofish Studios
