Symphony of the Incarnation
This work is very spiritual. Tracks are Narration followed by instrumental tracks for each section of narration of a text written by Benet Fonck, OFM. Snatches of several public domain Christmas carols appear in each track of music. The first, third, and fifth movements are played by the ensemble of organ and flutes; movements two and four are flute solos. As she is the President of the Franciscan Society of the Queenship of Mary,Sally writes things that are very spiritual, and intended to bring the listener closer to God. As for the Symphony of the Incarnation, it is not a symphony in the Classical sense, but is symphonic movements which reflect on the text that goes before them. It is all quite meditative except for the instrumental Fifth Movement, which is an organ carillon with the flutes taking the parts of horns to show extreme joy.Sally Daley,QM, is the organist throughout this entire work. The flutists are Elizabeth Delorit who is both music and Spanish teacher at St. Athanasius School in Evanston, IL, Christopher Skrable who is music director at St. Athanasius Church, Evanston, IL, and Valerie Simosko who is the former principal flutist with the Charlotte, NC, Symphony Orchestra. She is now living in Chicago where she repairs flutes, performs, and teaches. Sally studied musical composition at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, and organ at DePaul University, Chicago, IL. For most of her life she has been involved in church music, and has served as Director of Music Ministry at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and St. Robert Bellarmine churches in Chicago, IL, and also St. Maria Gorettti Church in Schiller Park, IL. Several of her works have been published by Alliance Music Publishers, Fish Creek, WI, and Opus Music Publishers, Northfield, IL. Currently she is serving as organist and sound tech in the chapel at Three Crowns park in Evanston, IL.
