Persuasive Percussion, Vol. 2

by Tony Wilds"Rocka Bongo Boogie" is inspired; the rest is only a shade above standard Command from the period. True, the two Persuasive Percussion albums sold wildly and turned the recording industry on its ear, ultimately resulting in imitative projects by nearly every major label. But it is all about appreciating the glories of microphone placement, a constant testing of channel separation, and all the great session men working from hard-and-fast charts. These were all vital ingredients in 1959 and lessons lost on the electronically recording generation. Contemporary listeners may only be able to dig it ironically, however. Command and Terry Snyder fans will not be disappointed.
