Shamar Forte

Shamar Forte

Shamar Forté claims to have no fans. "I have dreamers," he will tell you.      "I try to sing and write what most people are scared to say or feel" says Shamar. "A lot of people dream but very few are bold enough to risk it all to make that dream come true; Dare2Dream even if you're the only one who can see it!"   As you listen to him sing, you will find yourself yearning to dream your own dream. Shamar incites emotions and moves your heart, lyrics intoned with the wisdom you would expect of an old soul performing in a blues club.    “I think that I have a grittier way of saying positive things. I think there is a darker nuance contained in my music—it just feels natural for me to approach songs that way. In the end though, I know my songs are full of inspiration and an edge that’s enlightening. But that’s for you, though, the audience to interpret, and enjoy.”   Shamar's playful, enticing and conversational lyrics get inside your head,  making you wonder if you are hearing Shamar's voice or feeling his actual presence.   “I aim to be the voice for the person who is scared to have one,” Shamar continues.   "Showdown" engages you, "Numbers & Letters" knows where you have been. He crones on "My Heart" in a way that makes you realize you have felt a similar way. Yet in "Echo" he lets you know that he's still trying to figure it out, laying in a pool of doubt. Wherever you live, whatever you are going through, Shamar's voice can give you that kick to help you reach the next level and emotionally evolve, as he continually does, pushing musical boundaries while expressing his feelings in song.    “Music speaks all languages,” he says. “It is a way to reach people, and is something that everyone can relate to. “My musical heroes range from the likes of the late Donny Hathaway and Michael Jackson to more current artists like Coldplay, John Legend, Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Seal. They are all complete artists, singers, songwriters, storytellers and awesome performers.”   Shamar has been on screen and stage, his music highlighted on BET’s highly-rated afternoon show, “106 & Park,” during “Wild Out Wednesday,” where the show features unsigned talent. His acting credits include performing the part of CeCe in “Dreamgirls.” He played the part of the Tin Man in a 10-city tour of the Harlem Live version of "The Wiz.” Shamar has also studied in an acting workshop under Ms. Tasha Smith (“Daddy’s Little Girl,” “Why Did I Get Married.”)   As a recording artist, Shamar most recently collaborated with the production team of New World, a successful group of producers and songwriters who have been creatively essential in the careers of the Jonas Brothers and JoJo. Shamar writes and records closely with Z.Hannah. "He's the only person I've met who understands exactly where I want to take it, sometimes before I do" says Shamar.   From those sessions,  Shamar will release an EP for "Numbers & Letters" in spring 2011 and a full length album "No Title Needed" will drop in autumn. Until then, you can catch him in a constant state of creation on his YouTube page, inciting an emotional revolt from the status quo in the lives of his subscribers. He has been inspiring other dreamers by baring it all a ccapella, releasing out of studio versions of his songs.     Shamar and his dreamers are ready to show the world the new answer to music, as he sings in "If U Want Me,"  if you think he came this far to fall, you crazy.
