Crystin

Crystin

From the age of 14, Crystin has been singing and writing songs, at first, simply on the piano for the sheer joy of it. Later she used basic recording equipment to put her songs on tape or on CD. Keeping the dream of becoming a professional songwriter mostly to herself, she headed for university after leaving school to study law. Inevitably, though, her surpassing passion for music drew her into the music business, where she earned her wings not only as a singer-songwriter, but as a producer. In 2003 she became an important motive and creative force at the 'electric-lounge' label, achieving releases on more than 45 compilations, some in such places as Taiwan, the UK and the USA. In 2004/2005 she wrote and produced her first solo-album 'PopLounge', which was released in Sept. 2005. In 2007 she wrote and produced her second "baby", the "Astronaut" album. The single "You make my day" got serious airplay on almost all major radio-stations in Germany. In the meantime, many tracks from her two solo-albums have since been re-released on various international compilations. Crystin writes and produces her music almost entirely on her own, though there are a number of people who have become essential to her sound: Sven-Olaf Dirks and Stuart Watkins (of Canada) who play bass, Sebastian Müller (her twin brother), Markus Segschneider and again Sven-Olaf Dirks who play the guitars which have become characteristic of much of her music... She owes them much! In 2007 Crystin and the Ex-Les Mercredis musician Marco Petracca formed an electro-project called Hearhere. They wrote and produced their first EP entitled "Breathing" and created a unique sound, featuring an intriguing interplay of Crystin's soft voice and Marco's aggressive beats, both of which, being in extreme contrast to each other, interact to create a suspenseful synthesis. In 2007/2008 Crystin wrote and produced songs for a number of artistically acclaimed films (Doris Dörrie's Hanami, Leander Haußmann's Robert Zimmermann wundert sich über die Liebe, and Simone Wiest's Behind the Curtain) - sometimes under different names such as Goldin. She joined the multi-national Venus International project and made a Leevey remix for the Mode 2 record-label (together with Andreas Schöneberger). In 2008 Crystin received the Förderpreis Musik/Komposition 2008 of Düsseldorf, a renowned sponsorship prize for meritorious achievements in musical composition for young artists. Quite tragically, shortly before being accorded the prize, Crystin lost her voice in an unfortunate accident. At the time, the prognosis was that she would never sing again. Undeterred by this devastating prognosis Crystin concentrated on music production and tirelessly worked on her impaired voice... She is therefore unbelievable happy to release her 2010 EP "Everything", which contains 6 brand-new songs. In November of the same year she is to release the full album – "The Escaped One"!
