Julien Kelland
Julien is a 15 year old Canadian singer/songwriter from Uxbridge, Ontario Canada and has big dreams for her music. Julien found her love for music at a very young age, she started singing around the same time she started talking and has been performing ever since a surprise wedding performance at the age of six. Julien quickly realized that singing and performing was her passion, and that it was all she wanted to do. Her Dad helped spawn a love for artists like The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and other timeless rock & pop from the past. Julien is influenced by current artists such as Ariana Grande, Emeli Sande and Birdy. Since her sold out EP release party in 2013 she’s been impressing audiences all over the GTA, including two Live TV performances, Rogers York Daytime show and Uxbridge Today on Rogers Cable 10 Durham, as well as opening for CCMA Winner Doc Walker. Julien has just been awarded the #2 spot in Australia’s Stars of Tomorrow 2013 year end countdown, a competition that had over 500 participants. Julien has been compared to Birdy with her soulful whimsical lyrics & Adele with her unexpected powerful vocal strength. Julien studies voice & dance and was born to be a star, it’s in her family bloodline which she shares with Glenn Gould, one of the most celebrated classical pianists of the 20th century, and Edvard Hagerup Grieg who is widely considered one of the leading composers of the Romantic Era of classical music. Julien aspires to be a positive role model and to make a difference in the world. In December 2013, Julien, and her friend recorded a Christmas EP, and through the EP sales sponsored Safiata, a five year old girl from Burkina Faso, West Africa through Compassion.ca, this effort raised enough money for a full 2 years and she is committed to continuing supporting Safiata in the coming years through her music. The song You + Me written by Julien Kelland, Daniel Mulholland & Brett Simmonds has made it to the Semi-Finals of the 2013 International Songwriting Competition (ISC). There were almost 19,000 entries from over 100 countries, and Semi-Finalists make up the top 8% of all entries.
